In this post I described how, and why, you should make sure that your site present itself to the world with, or without the www in its URL. Take a moment to read that article, but if your site is based on Wordpress, skip over the technical HowTo there — there is a much easier way to deal with the issue on Wordpress.

Step by step instructions

Firstly, check the current configuration of your blog’s URL in your wp-admin Options=>General page. DO NOT change the URL, just note if it includes the “www” prefix.

1. Install the “Redirection”: plugin (if not already installed)
2. Enable the plugin
3. In your wp-admin area go to Manage=>Redirection=>Options
4. Select Strip www or Add www in the Root domain dropdown
5. Click Update
6. There is no step 6!
